Also attending were members Joe Cales (IN), Ken Dinquel (AZ), Brian Shinn (MT), Steve Crown (WA), Scott Thrasher (ME), and Honorary Members Rob Young and Ron Bailey.

President Tony Wood brought the meeting to order.

Discussion was held to determine a location for the 2011 conference. Chris Simmons nominated the state of Maine for the conference; therefore, placing Joel Wilkinson (ME) as a nominee to serve as 1st Vice President.

Ken Dinquel (AZ) volunteered to host the conference in 2012. Therefore, Ken was placed in nomination for the 2nd Vice President position.

Each Regional Director gave an overview of their prior-year accomplishments and membership status within their respective region. Mike England (GA) plans to make an IANRC presentation during the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies conference this November in Atlanta, Georgia. Chris Simmons (ME) reported that Maine is working toward becoming a member of the Wildlife Violator Compact. Chris also asked if federal agencies were eligible to become members of the IANRC. Tony Wood encouraged all members to contact their local federal agencies and offer them free attendance to annual conferences to see what the Association is all about. Tony volunteered to compose a letter encouraging federal agencies to join the Association and will forward it to each Regional Director.

Executive Secretary Candy Henderson advised that 28 state/provinces, as well as 4 Associate Members had paid dues for 2009 active membership. She also provided the following financial information:
  • The Association has a current checking account balance of $6,133.73.
  • The balance as of June 30, 2009 for the brokerage/investment account is $23,975.59. The account suffered during the year due to the shift in the economy.
  • Grand total of both the regular and investment accounts equals $30,109.32.
Financial statements were disseminated to all meeting participants. Each statement provided itemized income and expenses.

Candy requested comments regarding the possibility of increasing both regular member and associate member annual dues. In addition, there was discussion concerning anti-poaching groups and corporate sponsors joining. It was decided that corporate sponsors should be approached for one-time sponsorships and their logos placed on the IANRC home web page. Anti-poaching groups can join at the associate member level and also have their web links added to the IANRC home page. Comments regarding an increase in membership dues were received both pro and con and the subject was tabled until all conference-attending members could participate.

Candy advised she did not receive any suggestions for by-law changes/amendments from the membership.

Tony Wood asked all Regional Directors to obtain current contact information for their respective region states/provinces and give to Candy. Candy will also post Association officer duties on the IANRC web site.

President Tony Wood adjourned the business meeting.

A motion was made for the annual conference to return to Maine in 2011. The motion passed thereby making Joel Wilkinson (with assistance from Chris Simmons) First Vice-President.

Arizona volunteered to host the conference in 2012. Therefore Curtis Brown made a motion to accept Ken Dinquel as Second Vice-President. John Mombourquette seconded the motion and the motion passed.

All Regional Directors, Bob Thompson (West); Mike England (SE); Mark Rankin (Mid-west); and Chris Simmons (NE) were re-elected for another term in their current positions. Exception: John Mombourquette volunteered to become Canada’s new regional director.

Candy Henderson was re-elected for another year as Executive Secretary.

All members discussed the pros and cons of increasing membership dues. However, it was concluded that dues would remain at $200 for regular members and $25 for associate members. Corporations can participate with one-time sponsorships and have their logos/web links placed on the IANRC web site. Citizen anti-poaching groups can join the Association at the associate member level and also have their web links placed on the IANRC home page.

Ron Bailey and Rob Young presented their audit report of the Association’s financial holdings. All financial reports were in order with the exception of financial records needed from last year’s conference host Wisconsin. The Auditors and Executive Secretary will be contacting Wisconsin in the near future to clear up minor financial findings.

In-coming President Curtis Brown (FL) presented an overview of next year’s conference in Destin, Florida. More information will be forthcoming in the next newsletter.

Tony Wood adjourned the meeting and handed the gavel to Curtis Brown.
